The Black River Ballers had their first match today, fresh from the rosters. The coach admits he had little hope of beating the guard heavy dwarves. But with greenskins being plants, perhaps the very sunny weather was a bit of a boost. Audiences, seeing two bash heavy teams, were ready with their rocks if anyone should try to stall. The orks went hard for the ball carrier, well helped by Morg himself. The same can not be said for Mr. Wolff, who did two half-hearted fouls, before being sent of to the rafters.
Basing an entire team of angry dwarves is not usually the best strategy, but amazingly the short fellows managed to botch a block or two, allowing number 8; Danger Danger, to snatch up the ball and score a touchdown, first drive.
The orkish offense was better, and a double side-swap allowed them to outrun the slower dwarves. Sadly this caused Big Red to be battered to a pulp. A sacrifice, not in vain. And the promising star, Danger Danger living up to his name, as he crossed the Touchdown line for the second time.
The weather changed, and so did the orkish might. They set up a solid defense, but double quad skulls on counter assaults allowed the dwarves to move out of bounds. The orks didn't pay much attention to this, at least not when they realized they were up one touchdown, and proceeded to bash every possible bearded fellow into the ground instead. Ending the match 2-1 to the greenskins. |
